West Kendall includes the neighborhoods of Lakes of the Meadows, Kendall Lakes, Winston Park, The Hammocks, The Crossings, Calusa, Devon-Aire, Country Walk, Deerwood, Three Lakes, Kendall Breeze and many more. There are multiple choices for shopping and dining. The Kendall Village Shopping Center is located off Kendall Drive, minutes west from Town and Country Mall, and includes a cinema and an open air shopping area, as well as a diner and several restaurants. Nova Southeastern University, a private coeducational research university, is also located at the Kendall Village Center. Miami Executive Airport, formerly known until October 7, 2014 as Kendall-Tamiami Executive Airport, is a public airport in West Kendall approximately 13 miles southwest of Downtown Miami. It is operated by the Miami-Dade Aviation Department and serves corporate, recreational, flight training, and governmental agency activities. It is home to Miami’s Automated International Flight Service Station. West Kendall is comprised of very diverse communities of single family homes, townhouses and condos for growing families. Speakers of Spanish as a first language account for 84% of residents. Gold Coast Railroad Museum and Zoo Miami are located just to the south of West Kendall. Zoo Miami is the largest (750 acres) and oldest zoological garden in Florida and the only tropical zoo in the continental United States. Zoo Miami houses over 3,000 animals on 324 acres rebuilt after Hurricane Andrew. West Kendall is a growing family oriented community with much to offer its residents.
